In partnership with VVOB, Close the Gap made an identification mission on e-waste in RDC.

In July 2011, a small delegation of VVOB and Close the Gap travelled through RDC to identify the e-waste situation in the provinces of Kinshasa and Bas-Congo. The delegation visited several sites in Boma, Matadi and Kinshasa city.
For VVOB, the interest of this mission was mainly to identify how to create an expertise on e-waste to possibly integrate this specific topic into TVET training program. For Close the Gap, the mission was key to establish potential opportunities in creating a “look alike” e-waste project in RDC, as the one currently in development in East-African Community.
For both organisations, this mission was essential to reinforce their complementary initiatives in RDC, key country for Belgian cooperation.
The results of this mission will be communicated beginning of September 2011.
